However the small difference in the average number of prompt neutrons for isotopes of one element, and as well as the uncertainties, appearing in the extrapolation of the data from the region of the first fission chance to the region of the second and the third chances do not allow to expect that this method will be effective due to their strong energy dependence. There are only data on the contribution of the first chance cross section to the 235 U( n,f) reaction cross section obtained on the basis of the data on the neutron multiplicity of photofission of 236 U (Caldwell et al., 1980), as well as on the basis of the dependence of the total energy of prompt gamma-rays on the average number of prompt neutrons originated from the fission (Frehaut, 1985).Īn indirect confirmation of the theoretical calculations of the partial cross sections of the emissive fission could be the data on the energy dependence of the average number of prompt neutrons originated from the fission. In practice there are no direct experimental methods, which could be able to validate our knowledge about the chance structure of the fission cross section (Roshchenko et al., 2010). It cannot be solved reliably without theoretical analysis of the experimental data.
